Why Use a Transport Box?
In the unfortunate event of a car accident, an unrestrained dog can become a projectile, posing serious risks to both the animal and human occupants. A well-constructed transport box keeps your dog securely contained, reducing the likelihood of injury. Additionally, it prevents distractions while driving, as dogs are less likely to move around or interfere with the driver when safely enclosed.
Choosing the Right Size
Selecting an appropriately sized transport box is essential for your dog’s comfort and safety. The crate should be large enough for your dog to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably. However, it shouldn’t be so large that the dog is thrown around during sudden stops or turns.
Measuring Your Vehicle’s Trunk
To ensure a proper fit for the transport box:
- Depth: Measure from the back of the rear seats to the edge of the trunk opening.
- Width: Measure between the narrowest points, considering wheel arches.
- Height: Measure from the trunk floor to the lowest point of the trunk ceiling or rear door.
Note: Be mindful of any sloping rear doors or irregular shapes that might affect the available space.
